I've removed a couple of messages from here over the last week - both of which were asking for sex and displaying email addresses.
Messages of this type should go in the "Casual Contacts" section, but I think they had probably been posted here because only Guyslink members can post messages in "Casual Contacts", and perhaps these guys weren't members.
BUT, to become a member doesn't cost a cent. It just means having to register with your email address - and I would have thought that if someone's prepared to publish their email address within a message, they may just as well type it into the registration form!
When you register as a member, and post your messages in "Casual Contacts", there is a very big advantage - people can reply to you without you having to display your email address - they simply need to click on your name at the top of the message. So, your email address is only ever known by Guyslink, and we never pass any email addresses to anyone.
But, if you don't become a member and therefore need to show your email address online, you're leaving yourself wide open to spam. There are lots and lots of spammers visiting messageboards like this to try and collect email addresses, and we like to make sure that they leave disappointed!
So guys, we have no problem at all with ads for sex, but please join Guyslink, put them in "Casual Contacts" and don't include your email address in the message. That way, it's safer for you, and when your ad is in the right place it has a lot better chance of being seen by people who might be interested.
Meanwhile if you want to discuss any gay related topic - or anything else for that matter - then this is the place.
